Image
‘With friends like these, who needs enemies?’ As the old saying goes. Rapper Guru claims a close friend of his once tried to poison him, and he nearly died but for the intervention of a pastor, who spiritually took the toxins out of his body. Born Maradona Yeboah Adjei, Guru was speaking with Delay on her talk show when he made the allegations. According to him, the incident occurred right before a planned performance and he found himself on stage unable to vocalize. “I only realised I was poisoned when I was going on stage and saw changes in my voice and funny feelings within my stomach. I did all the check-ups in the world and doctors were even amazed because they couldn’t find anything in my throat. I had difficulties in talking. I get choked when I try talking.” he said. “I have a strong family too so I had a clue about what was going on. I decided to find solution and it was taken out of my system. A pastor did a surgery on me and took some things o

‘I Apologize If I Hurt Anyone…I Suffered A Relapse’ — Abena Korkor

Image
And it comes full circle. Former UCC SRC Presidential candidate and current T.A at the school, Abena Kokor Addo, has seemingly backtracked on her allegations of s*xual escapades with big men and claims it was due to a ‘relapse’. Korkor, who suffers from bipolar disorder, took to social media to apologize for her actions, attributing it to a relapse of her mental condition. The weekend in Ghana was lit after Korkor came out with allegations against several ‘big men’ in the country, who she claimed pay for s*x. She revealed each one’s strength and weaknesses in bed and caused a massive furore. However, after the story trended for over a couple days Korkor is now seemingly walking it back. She posted on her whatsapp status that — “I apologize if I hurt anyone. God be our strength,” She also wrote: “I shall not die but live and declare to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have not quit as a teaching assistant, as a Mixologist nor a mental health advoca

Chinese museum pulls down 'racist' exhibits comparing Africans to animals

Image
Days after an online outrage and complaints of racism against an exhibition that displayed images of Africans in comparison with wild animals, the Chinese museum pulled down the exhibits. The Hubei Provincial Museum in Wuhan displayed the exhibition since late September ahead of the Chinese national Golden Week holiday. This was captured on video and uploaded on Instagram. The exhibits included a photograph of a roaring lion next to an African man with the same expression; a pensive monkey next to another man; elephants and giraffes next to African children among others. According to a local destination blog Shangaiist, the ‘This is Africa’ exhibition which started September 28 belongs to Chinese photographer Yu Huiping to “give visitors a sense of ‘primitive life’ in Africa through the interplay of humans, animals and nature.” The photographer, who is the the vice-president of Hubei Photographers Association, is reported to be a lover of Africa and its wildli

Snoop Dogg's new album is a direct jab at Donald Trump

Image
Snoop Dogg isn't retiring his nonchalant flow and penchant for wordplay just yet. The veteran rapper is set to bless fans with new music and very soon at that, all the while taking jabs at Donald Trump. On Sunday (Oct. 15), the Long Beach legend took to Instagram to share what appears to be cover art for his forthcoming project, titled Make America Crip Again. "Oct 27 new snoop Dogg," the "Gin & Juice" rapper captioned the post. The now-rumored new project is an obvious reference to President Trump's slogan, "Make America Great Again." which has continually been co-opted. Make America Crip Again is set to debut fresh on the heels of the release of his last project Neva Left. With Snoop returning to his gangsta rap roots, there's no telling what his forthcoming effort may entail.

Kenya boarding school attack leaves six dead

Image
At least five students and a security guard have been shot and killed in a dawn attack at a secondary school in northern Kenya.  The attack was allegedly led by a former student who had been suspended, the school's head teacher said. He is accused of returning to dormitories at the school in Lokichogio on Saturday with two accomplices. As well as killing six people, witnesses say they raped two girls and injured another 18 students. According to the head teacher, the boy - said to be from nearby South Sudan - had fought with another pupil, leading to his suspension. He returned to find the boy, but he was not at the AIC Lokichogio Secondary School at the time. Turkana County Commissioner Seif Matata told Kenya's Daily Nation newspaper that the suspect "was heard telling fellow students that he is going to burn the school or he will come back and avenge because of the suspension". The Kenya Red Cross says they have evacuated the injured.

Central Region records drop in teenage pregnancy

Image
The Central Region, ranked as the second highest region with high prevalence of teenage pregnancy in the country, has started witnessing a decline in the number of cases, the Regional Department of Gender has revealed.    A Ghana Health Service Report indicated that more than 13,000 teenage girls got pregnant in the region in 2015. At least 5,000 teenage girls in the region got pregnant between July and December 2016, the Member of Paliament for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem, Samuel Atta Mills told Parliament in June this year.    It is estimated that one out of every three girls (31.2 per cent) in the region marries or is cohabiting before age 18; something that experts say is affecting the fight against teenage pregnancy. But the Director of Gender Department in the region, Mrs Thywill Eyra Kpe, has said the cases have begun to decline due to various interventions by stakeholders. “It is obvious that we have made some modest gains in this fight to reduce

Man renames himself after favourite tea brand – because he drinks so much of it

Image
A man has renamed himself after his favourite brand of tea. Nathan Garner, 31, is now known as Nathan Yorkshire Tea Gardner. He changed his name by deedpoll. The brew fan hails from Sheffield – which is in Yorkshire, for anyone who might not know. He drinks at least (at least!) 15 cups a day, so besotted is he with the warming British favourite, even knocking back two cups before he's even brushed his teeth. He said: "I was at work one day and my mate Billy said, 'chuffin' hell, you drink so much of the stuff you should change your name to Yorkshire Tea'. "I thought it was a great idea, so at lunch I got out my phone and went onto the website and got rid of Derek." Nathan didn't kill anyone called Derek. No, this story doesn't take such a sinister turn. Derek was Nathan's middle name. Keep up to be honest. "1of our GRC team has changed his name from Nathan Garner to Nathan Yorkshire Tea Gar

Donald Trump's son plays football on the White House lawn in a full Arsenal kit

Image
Arsene Wenger's may have the lost the backing of large swathes of Arsenal supporters in recent months - but at least he can count on support from inside the Oval office. As 'Wenger Out' banners continue to pop up all over the world, Barron Trump, son of the President of the United States, has been pictured playing football dressed in Arsenal's famous red and white strip. Despite being in the midst of their worst run of form since Arsene Wenger took over as manager, Donald Trump's son Barron clearly remains a diehard Gooner. The 11-year-old was pictured kicking around an orange football as part of the White House's Easter Egg Roll celebrations. Trump donned the kit on the same day MLS team DC United visited the White House. DC United striker Patrick Mullins said he was impressed by Barron's knowledge of the game. "He was very knowledgeable about soccer, knew about DC United and was interested to know more. "

NPP behind Ahantehene’s money-laundering saga’

Image
Former Municipal Chief Executive for the Ejisu Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh says some elements in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are behind a publication that appeared in a UK-based news portal citing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in a money laundering scandal. Though he did not mention names, he disclosed that they are members of the present government emphasizing that their plot will be resisted by right-thinking residents of Asanteman and subjects of the king. The leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is convinced that the alleged $350,000 money laundering saga leveled against the Asante monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is politically motivated by some people in the NPP to tarnish the image of the great Asante Kingdom. He said they will soon be exposed and chased out of the country. “How can some people be so mean and make such damming allegations against our great King? They should stop this no

Olympic legend Michael Phelps challenges Conor McGregor to swimming race

Image
Conor McGregor pocketed around $100m by swapping the octogan for squared circle, and now Michael Phelps has floated the idea of the Irishman taking to water. The 23-time Olympic gold medalist asked his 2.2 million strong Twitter following is he should step out of retirement and challenge McGregor to a swimming race - presumably with the fighter getting a sizeable head-start. Phelps is no stranger to sporting novelty events, racing a 'shark' as part of a Discovery Channel publicity stunt earlier this year. Of course, the shark was created using CGI and beat Phelps by two seconds in the 100 metre race that left viewers disappointed that history's most decorated Olympian hadn't jumped in the water with a deadly predator. After McGregor's money-spinning venture in Las Vegas against Floyd Mayweather, Mixed Martial Arts fans are waiting to see what his next move will be. At 29, the Dublin-born UFC star has plenty of fighting year

He explained that the plant grew because floods from Ngong Hills deposited the seeds in his garden. The Reverend added that he was going to burn the plant. His declaration of intent to burn the narcotic plant got many social media users excited. Source: Laborogh.com

Free SHS not an achievement – Hassan Ayariga

Image
Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Hassan Ayariga has rejected claims by many Ghanaians that the new Free Senior High School policy introduced by the New Patriotic Party government is an achievement.    On After Hours on TV3, Hassan Ayariga argued that what the NPP term as free SHS should rather be described as, “Scholarship for 400,000 first year students”.  He told host Mikki Osei Berko: “I don’t think free SHS is an achievement. This is not the first time government has implemented free SHS. Kwame Nkrumah introduced free education for everyone. They are giving scholarships to 400,000 students.    They are not implementing free SHS. They are giving scholarships to first year students. The third year students are paying school fees so why call it free SHS.    I don’t think they were ready; they only rushed to implement it just to score some political points”. The former Presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC) also m

£350k scandal: Asantehene is innocent – Sacked bank official

Image
The sacked official of the Ghana International Bank in the UK Mark Arthur has said the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu is innocent in the cash transaction that subsequently got him to lose his job. Mr. Arthur was dismissed after the traditional ruler of the Kingdom of Ashanti, summoned him to his multimillion-pound residence in Henley-on-Thames and handed him a bag containing almost £200,000 in sterling as well as $200,000 in US currency for saving at the bank. The aggrieved banker, from New Barnet, Hertfordshire, a dual citizen of the UK and Ghana, drove to his own home with the cash and then took it in an Uber taxi to the bank’s City offices for deposit in the king’s account, he told an employment tribunal. In a statement submitted to the court Thursday and cited by Starr News, Mr Arthur Insists he also did nothing wrong in the huge financial transaction. “Mr Arthur’s position throughout his suspension, investigation, disciplinary process and the Employment Trib

Short men must make money before marriage - George Lutterodt

Image
Controversial counsellor, Reverend George Lutterodt has advised men who are vertically challenged to be financially sound before considering marriage. According to him, men below the average height who are fortunate to have wives should forever be grateful to them because most women claim to love ‘thick tall’ men. “I am encouraging all the short men. Be careful not to lose all the women who have agreed to marry you because if you lose them because of your height it will be difficult for you to get another woman to marry…” he advised. “Let the women know you are short. You only need make money. Look for money [that is breathing] so the women would know you are okay…” He continued that, “If you are short, look at yourself in the mirror every morning salute and thank your wife. Ghana U17 trounce over their Indian counterparts

Image
The Black Starlets recovered from a defeat to the United States to beat host nation India 4-0 to book a place in the next round of the on-going FIFA under 17 FIFA World Cup. A brace from Captain Eric Ayiah and a goal each from substitutes Danso and Toku were all Ghana needed to end India’s World Cup dreams. The host nation started the game brightly, pinning Ghana to the wall but the Starlets stood their ground to ensure that their defensive line wasn’t breached. Ghana grew into the game and created some decent openings but the frontline led by captain Ayiah could not make the best out of the numerous chances created. Ghana had the breakthrough on the stroke of half-time when Eric Ayiah pounced on a rebound to register his first goal of the tournament. Ayiah’s first-half goal lifted the pressure on the Starlets who returned from the break to play with freedom, confidence and panache. The Starlets attacked their opponents incessantly and eventually got the s

Bawumia rubbishes posters announcing his election 2020 bid

Image
The office of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pooh-poohed the circulation of supposed posters announcing his interest to contest election 2020. In a rather brief and not-so-detailed statement copied to citifmonline.com on Thursday, signed by Frank Ayei-Twum, Communications Director of the Office of the Vice President, he asked Ghanaians to ignore the posters and its content, claiming they are “meant to cause disaffection for the Vice President.” “The attention of the Office of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been drawn to posters purporting to indicate that H.E. Dr Bawumia has begun a campaign to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2020 elections.” “It is clear that the perpetrator(s) of this act intend to cause disaffection for the Vice President but their campaign will fail. For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state unequivocally that the posters are the figment of the imagination of the originator(s), and we call on all Ghanaians

CAF sideline referee Daniel Bennett from officiating in CAF Champions League semifinal after Ghana-Uganda blunder

Image
Confederations of African Football (CAF) have dropped South African referee Daniel Bennett from officiating in the Champions League second-leg semifinal clash between Nady Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel.   Bennett, who was originally appointed to officiate in the crunch clash at the Borg el Aram Stadium, has been sidelined following his abysmal performance in the 2018 World Cup qualifier between the Cranes of Uganda and the Black Stars in Kampala last Saturday. Mr Bennett and assistants denied Ghana a perfect goal in the 93rd minute with television replays showing that it was a perfect goal.   The referee also denied Ghana a penalty earlier in the second-half when Ghana midfielder Frank Acheampong was brought down in the box. The Ghana Football Association has however, reported the referee and his Seychellois assistants to FIFA for their horrendous officiating.   The beleaguered official has however been replaced by fellow South African referee Vitor G
