Suicide bombers attack in Maiduguri

Four female suicide bombers have blown themselves up in the north-eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri.

So far it is reported that only the bombers were killed. Several people were hurt.

The city is where the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, was founded.

As we reported earlier suspected jihadists attacked the town of Gulak overnight in the neighbouring state of Adamawa, forcing hundreds of civilians to flee.

Officials and residents say fighting with the Nigerian military resulted in heavy casualties, including civilians, but it is not yet clear exactly how many people died.

245 suspected criminals, prostitutes arrested in Kumasi

The police in Ashanti Region have arrested 245 suspected criminals and sex workers at various criminal dens in the Kumasi. Joy News’ reporter Nana Yaw Gyimah said the suspects are being screened for processing before a court. The Regional Police Command has explained the exercise forms part of its strategies to rid the metropolis of criminals. Regional Police chief, COP Ken Yeboah told the media Thursday, the operation was the biggest swoop ever done in the metropolis. He said 35 female suspects believed to be commercial sex workers have been handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit for further investigations. ‘I Apologize If I Hurt Anyone…I Suffered A Relapse’ — Abena Korkor

And it comes full circle. Former UCC SRC Presidential candidate and current T.A at the school, Abena Kokor Addo, has seemingly backtracked on her allegations of s*xual escapades with big men and claims it was due to a ‘relapse’. Korkor, who suffers from bipolar disorder, took to social media to apologize for her actions, attributing it to a relapse of her mental condition. The weekend in Ghana was lit after Korkor came out with allegations against several ‘big men’ in the country, who she claimed pay for s*x.
